SharePoint Wiki! Sharing is gaining...

A SharePoint 2010 solution I was working on contained several different types projects (MasterPage, ContentTypes, EventReceivers).  At one point, I started getting this error:  “Error occurred in deployment step Add Solution: Value does not fall within the expected range.”

By unloading projects I narrowed it down to my ContentType provisioning/feature.

The ID of the content type had a typo.

While googling for this error, there wasn’t an exact match for my typo, rather it was the method to isolate the problem, which is to unload projects and features until I found the culprit.

I had used a GUID for the content type ID like: ID = "{F2CD333F-84C8-4274-A72B-BD911F79DBE6}"

So when I replaced it with ID = 0x0100574F3398A6A141B4A6E0F56CF5B58A1A. All was well :)
