I have tried a number of times to export a single website configuration and import it on another machine using the provided commands. The XML output from the list command above looks correct. However, when I try to import the XML I always get:

ERROR ( hresult:8007000d, message:Command execution failed.The data is invalid. )

Any help would be appreciated.

Hey Eric, I haven't run into that before. I would verify that your content paths match up between the two servers. You should also create the application pool on the destination server first, and make sure it matches up to the name of the original, or whatever you've modified it to in your xml file.

Hello, and thanks.
Can I use this to import an IIS 6 "Save Configuration to a File" result into IIS 7?

Hey Carbuncle, no it won't work if you are trying to go between IIS 6 and 7. To do that, I'd suggest using MSDeploy. You can read my article on it here:

I need to export the website in XML Feed separately by Spanish & English.
