So the Twin Cities Code Camp III is over... thoughts?

I had a great time meeting a lot of the local developer community, including some Magenic and Microsoft folks that I hadn't had an opportunity to hang with before. It was great seeing Bill Ryan, Lou Vega and D'Arcy Lussier again.

The four of us, plus a few extra folks (Justin Chase, Aaron Erickson, Michael Dunn) all got together at my house the night before to work on our presentations, have a few beers and jam on Guitar Hero II.  Michael brought his robot "The Magenicon" and showed it off a little bit.

Both of my sessions went off without a hitch, although my first session (XNA for Newbs) was a little shorter than intended. Not a lot of questions, although the few I got were good ones.

My second session, on TorqueX, went well too.  It was the first time I've ever done a code camp session with no PowerPoint deck at all. Lots of fun there too. I knocked out the beginnings of a simple "breakout" clone and then showed a little bit of the TorqueX Platformer Starter Kit.

Everyone in attendance at Code Camp seemed to be having a good time, the food was great and the swag giveaways at the end were nice as well. Some of the top prizes include a Halo 3 XBOX 360, a Sony PSP, a zune, lots of books, etc...

Jason made an announcement that Code Camp 4 would be some time in April, so we're all looking forward to that as well. Posted on Monday, October 29, 2007 8:48 AM General Interest | Back to top
