CFL Week 5

Thursday, July 13, 2006 6:23 PM

Only three games for week 5 of the CFL season.

Calgary over Hamilton
Hamilton is winless, their coach has been fired this week, and now they're heading into a match with Calgary who blew out the Roughriders in the second half of their game last week. I really like Hamilton and the talent they have on the team is much better than their record. But Calgary is hot right now. The nod goes to Calgary.

BC over Sask
The only consistency in the west is that nobody wants to step up as a dominating force. These two teams are prime examples: Sask looked bad, then good, then bad, then horrible. BC isn't being consistent either. Edmonton got blown out by Winnipeg one week, then beat down BC the next. So I don't know. Right now, I think BC looks to be the better of the two, but that's what I thought in week 2 as well, and Sask proved me wrong then. But for this week, BC.

Montreal kicks Winnipeg all over the field then
Montreal is the class of the East. Winnipeg is tied for first place only because they've beat a horrible Toronto team twice and Edmonton decided to show up in a coma. Now, if Winnipeg beats Montreal Saturday, then I'll consider them a serious threat for the season. But Montreal is still the team to beat in the league, and I honestly think that Winnipeg has been lucky against struggling teams more than being talented. So we'll see.
