And so the inevitable has arrived...

We were looking out past the road we came from
Looking at redemption
Hidden in the landscape
Of loss and love and fire and rain
Never would have come this way
Looking for redemption
In the eyes of sorrow, eyes of rage
What a sordid histories they played
The drama of redemption

-Jars of Clay,

It's finally here, the day I've been ignoring on my calendar all year. The life support systems have been taken off, the last rites have been read, and now all that's left is to wait for the last gasping breaths of my 20's to weeze out of a corpse growing cold and grey.

My 20's lived a full life though, and one that my 30's will ultimately benefit from in the long run. My 20's saw me get married, saw me decide that I needed to do something else with my life and subsequently saw me go back to college to take my IT course. It saw me work at $h1tty IT company after $h1tty IT company until I found myself at the dream gig of Imaginet. Most importantly it saw me through my spiritual journey, through the loss of two children (unborn are children), discovering myself through failed work dealings, through strained relationships with family, dealing with illness...

We all need to go through the valleys of life to truly appreciate it when we reach the top of a mountain. As I look back on the landscape of my 20s and I see what I've lived through, I'm grateful, joyful, saddened...and also secure in that I know myself better than at any other point in my life.

I'm also more secure in that I'm ready to tackle the valley and mountain of my 30's and 40's and beyond. But for today, I do lament the "loss of my youth", but also celebrate the growth that happened.

And I won my Fantasy Football game yesterday thanks to Brady's interceptions, so I can't really be THAT down today.
;)
