Back from the gym, and had a pretty thourough set this morning

10 min on the bike
10 min on the treadmill, 15-elevation and 3.9 speed - but this time I didn't slow down at all...I held onto the bar and walked for most of it, but I didn't have to reduce the speed! Great cardio workout...felt like throwing up afterwards...its always a good cardio if you feel like throwing up afterwards ;)

After that it was all weights, which I really like:
15 x 4 Lats/Hogan-Flex (my term)/This thing where you hold a 25lb weight with your arms straight and lift to eye level
3 x 21 Quads/Hamstrings/Triceps/Biceps

The 3x21 thing is kewl. You do 7 reps at the lower part of the movement, 7 at teh higher part, and 7 full motion.

Needless to say, I'm going to feel this tomorrow...but for today I feel great! I weighed myself and I'm still at 280lbs, but that's ok...I'm noticing some bulk in all the RIGHT places, and the scale is really a bad guide. How clothes fit is a much better telling way to go.

I was thinking I might start doing some Mad Mexican web-videos to show off some of the exercises that I've been doing so you can do them at home...maybe I should put out a Mad Mexican workout DVD...LOL

Congrats on your tenacity! And I think with your wit a "Mex Flex" DVD could sell pretty well.

My wife has also been discouraged in the past by no perceptible change on the needle of the scale after putting in lots of effort at the gym. Then (and this is going to sound like a really bad gift) seven years ago for Christmas I got her one of those scales with the metal dealies you stand on that measures your body fat percentage, and she loved it. She was seeing more immediate results from her efforts. She even made charts to track the progress and such.

I'm blessed / cursed with whatever skinny gene lets you eat as much as you want. The scale always tells me I've got 7% body fat, no matter what I do. Much lower than it should be, and some days I wonder if I've actually got a thyroid disorder. I should probably go and get it checked out. 12/29/2006 7:53 AM | Lorin
