Adding Code-Behind to Custom Pages in Sharepoint 2007

Thursday, May 17, 2007 6:21 PM

Will Allan posted on his blog about how to get an ASP.NET page with code behind installed in Sharepoint 2007. I really hope there's an alternative way to do this, because the way it is now is insane! You need to create your page and dll in vs.net 2005, then you need to create the page using Sharepoint Designer, then you copy the text from the ASP.NET page into the new Sharepoint Designer-created page, then you throw the DLL in the bin (or GAC)...

I'm seeing the next big thing right now, and its Automation Tools for Sharepoint Development.

Good point. The way to do it is insanely cumbersome and tedious. Furthermore, it requires full-control of the server, with the deployment of Features, etc. Not good at all for shared hosting where one cannot touch the 12-Hive or the web.config of the Bin. 8/9/2008 9:24 PM | Mark Kamoski
