I noticed the other day that weblogs.asp.net is running ads now.  I am glad to see this because it is hard to run ads on these sites, because most bloggers don't like them.  The dilemma is you have to pay for the site and work on the site somehow.  After 3 years of this site being launched, we are quite large are have a very large following.  These hits cost money and to do the work on the site cost money.  I believe running ads is the best solution, because charging for blogs adds more cost to the blogger and to the company as well because you have a lot of processing charges and time to do the billing.

I would like to hear some of your views on the ads on this site and weblogs.asp.net and see what other options you may have for those of you that disagree with them or those that try to disable ads using CSS.  BTW, if you disable the ad on your blog, I disable SecondaryCss on your blog.

As an outside observer: the main site ads do not interfere with the user experience. However, the ads in *every post* of the RSS feed add A LOT of visual noise, to the point of being distracting.

The ads on the site don't bother me...nor do the rss ads.

Bloglines, at least, is showing ads in every single post (i.e., add a feed to bloglines for http://www.geekswithblogs.net/MainFeed.aspx, then change the time period if you need to to display all posts in the last 24 hours)

Also, I checked the main feed using IE7 just now--same results (an ad at the bottom of every post)

Do you have another IP you can test on, I believe it is request by user. I have definitely seen no ads

I don't mind the ads in the posts or on the site - except that some of the ads on the site are very obnoxiously designed - but thats not your fault.

The Aim Pro one is nice looking.
