Data Dude GDR CTP 16 Available!
Sorry this is a little late. Two important things about the GDR for Data Dude. 1. No more design-time databases. 2. There is now a provider model for databases. This is how they will support DB2 when then GDR is released and how they will also support Oracle in the near future. From Gert Drapers: The team is happy to announce that we just released CTP16, of the Visual Studio Team System 2008 Database Edition GDR release. ... New Role for Team System
Microsoft announced its new DBA role for Team System yesterday! This is exciting because it extends the database project that was in 2003 and 2005 and includes features like adding procedure code to TFS source control with a single click and a tool that will show you the differences between schemas on two different databases (I assume like SQL Diff). I am attending a session next Friday and will blog with more details then. Happy Coding!

Microsoft ArcReady Event Coming to Houston, Dallas and Austin
Microsoft ArcReady Architecting Modern Distributed Applications Nearly every application we build today has dependencies to other systems. How do we design them to work together to meet our goals? How do we decide what to build and what to buy? Do we host it ourselves or in the cloud? I finally sold out
Not content to sit on the side lines as “Beatle Mania 2” took place last week, I finally went out and bought myself a used iPhone. I am in love. I, of course, had to unlock mine for T-Mobile which was difficult because the previous owner upgraded to the 2.0 firmware. The device is truly amazing. It has rekindled my love of Audible.com. As I went out to the web to learn about the iPhone, I have only one issue. Can you guess what it is? Bueller? If you guessed Apple users you win!!! Reading the post ......

Brian Fellows?
áHa! That came to me while on a flight from Houston to Minneapolis. Just wanted to give big kudos to Brian Harry of Microsoft. He was made Technical Fellow at Microsoft recently. If you read the description of what a Technical Fellow is and you know the kinds of talented people that work for Microsoft, you understand how HUGE this is. áIf you don't know Brian by name, you know his work. He is a driving force for Visual Studio Team System and was responsible for the creation of Visual Source Safe. ......

Readify, an Australian company, has launched the world's first hosted Team Foundation Server product offering. It allows you to access you TFS server from anywhere in the world without having to make a big investment in infrastructure and licensing. This is pretty cool if you think about companies that may be doing right-shoring, or have teams that are spread all over the globe. If you have ever had to work through connectivity issues with a VPN and disparate teams, run (don't walk) and check this ......
