We've started our home grown Moss Camp this week. The session was interesting but we still have a way to go.  I'm missing so many pieces. Can't somebody help!!!

Ok we began with creating a site from a template.....we were supposed to already have a VM setup. Uh - oh...oh it's easy....even if your a total novice when it comes to networking...this is what I was being told anyway.

I was able to get Virtual Server 2005 installed and use the VHD from Microsoft that is set to self destruct early next year. But this didn't allow me to integrate with Active Directory. So I was told the best thing to do is create your own VM. After being pointed in several different directions I decided to bite the bullet and see what I could break.

There are several programs you can use to create a Virtual Server. I went with Virtual Server 2005.

Now that you have your virtual server you need to install an Operating System. I downloaded the Windows Web Server 2003 R2 as an ISO from my MSDN subscription and mounted it to the VM's CD Drive. Then I rebooted the VM and it began the OS install automatically. When you get to the part of the installation where it asks you to name your computer you will want to add your domain in order to utilize your networks AD.
