I run Vista Ultimate and used to have no problems with Google Earth. Now, it craps out on me all the time with the same error. It's really annoying. I wonder if GE released a new version? Can you e-mail me if you discover the solution?

I wouldn't put it past Micro$oft to implant a GE bug so more people use their maps.live.com...

I'm running MS XP and suddenly Google Earth Plus craps out on me as well. It loads and then turns no responsive while continuing to utilize 90+ % of the CPU.
This is a recent set of occurances. I too have used Google Earth Plus for several years with no problems.

I've been looking forward to running GE under Vista Ultimate on new powerful computer and I'm lucky if I get more than 3 mins out of it before it stops responding - never a problem before on XP sp2. Only pointer I've found on another forum is a conflict with A-Virus software but didn't mention problems using Norton 360 so I'm stuck too. Help somebody !

Same problem here. Freezes (not responding) during initialization. I reloaded in "repair" mode then tried uninstalling via "ControlPanel" and also shut down firewalls...all done with same ending ((Grrrrrr))

Anybody find a solution yet?

Like the guy above, I'm lucky to get just a couple minutes out of Google Earth before it freezes and displays a (not responding) message.

Don't think that it has something to do with Visat. I believe, that it's the last version of Google Earth. Using XP with previous version - no prob at all. Nothing changed reg. XP or firewall but updated GE. ... as described above: Some minutes and frozen. Unfortunately, it is not possible to uninstall GE and get back to the previous GE Version afaik.

Aha, my guess was right. I deinstalled the last GE version and found the old 3.0... and 4.0. ... version on some servers to download. Stress-tested and seems to work stable as it used to be. So, I'll forget the 4.1- Version :)

Can you tell me where to look for an old version of GE? I am having same problem. Thought I had it fixed when I uninstalled it then shut off the firewalls to reinstall but no luck.

My Google earth ran great on my new computer as I was installing my software. After I downloaded CA antivirus/firewall/spamblocker softeware from Road Runner, it started locking up. It runs without the software but goes into "not responding" when the virus software is on the computer. I tried changing settings, firewall, etc but still locks up as it tries finish loading.

DC.

I have CA antivirus and firewall from RoadRunner also. Google Earth would freeze with me as well when I opened it. If you put your CA antivirus in snooze mode. Google Earth will run fine. Or at least it did for me.

Go to 'Programs', Google Earth and start Google Earth in 'Direct X' mode. If I start in GL mode my system hangs.

Google Earth will not reinstall, or repair. Works for a while, freezes, have to shut down computer and restart. Worked well in the past, but lately is increasingly degrading

I am using XP and I cannot get past the tips window. It freezes up and says that it is not responding. I uninstalled Google Earth and the updater and reinstalled and still get the same problem.

I tried all of the above - uninstalling, reinstalling and suggestions on the Google Help site : http://earth.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=20713
- Updated video card driver
- Set DirectX as default renderer
- Turned off anti-virus etc.
I have a laptop with Vista Home and NVIDIA GeoForce Go 7600 card. I can get the browser add-on for Chrome to work so not sure what the problem is. Haven't had any other video problems at all.

Window XP SP3, 3GB RAM, Core2Duo, 250GB HDD

No other applications running.
Starting Google Earth will freeze computer. Have to restart entire system, not just the application.

Till few days back, everything worked fine. Not sure what is the problem.
Tried in DirectX, OpenGL. Both does not work. System freezes after splash screen loads & initializes.

Any help?

TIA
